Our Worship

At MZAK we desire first and foremost to worship the Lord in Spirit and in Truth. The Lord Jesus spoke of this worship to the woman at the well in John 4:23, “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.” The Father is seeking to find those who will worship Him with a pure heart and in the way He desires to be worshipped.

WORSHIP IN SPIRIT
We believe that worshipping in Spirit encompasses the following aspects: Liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17), Joy (Psalm 16:11), Peace (Colossians 3:15), and Unity (Psalm 133:1-2). Worshipping in Spirit also speaks of having clean hands and a pure heart. We want to offer the Lord pure worship in the beauty of holiness. Therefore, we do not allow worldly influences in our worship or anything that would seek to glorify the flesh (1 Corinthians 1:29).

WORSHIP IN TRUTH
David set forth a pattern of worship which was used in the Tabernacle of David. This pattern can be found in the Psalms.  The following are some biblical references as to why we conduct our church services as we do:

WE SING WITH ALL OUR HEARTS because the Bible says, "I will sing unto the Lord because He has dealt bountifully with me” (Psalm 13:6).  “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise" (Psalm 98:4).

WE PLAY MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS because the Bible says, "And all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments" (2 Samuel 6:5).  “Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heaven! Praise Him for His mighty works; praise His unequaled greatness! Praise Him with a blast of the ram’s horn; praise Him with the lyre and harp! Praise Him with the tambourine and dancing; praise Him with strings and flutes! Praise Him with a clash of cymbals; praise Him with loud clanging cymbals. Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD! Praise the Lord!” (Psalm 150).

WE CLAP OUR HANDS as a common way of expressing joy, or indicating applause or approval.  The Bible says, “O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph” (Psalm 47:1).

WE LIFT OUR HANDS IN PRAISE because the Bible says, "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord" (Psalm 134:2).

WE DANCE BEFORE THE LORD because the Bible says, "Praise him with the timbrel and dance" (Psalm 150:4).

WE TESTIFY PUBLICLY because the Bible says, "I will declare thy name unto my brethren; in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee" (Psalm 22:22).

WE HAVE AUDIBLE PRAISE TO GOD because the Bible says, “By [Jesus] therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name”  (Hebrews 13:15).

WE SING CHORUSES AND HYMNS because the Bible says, “Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts” (Ephesians 5:18-19).

WE SING IN TONGUES AND IN ENGLISH because the Bible says, “For if I pray in tongues, my spirit is praying, but I don't understand what I am saying. Well then, what shall I do? I will pray in the spirit, and I will also pray in words I understand. I will sing in the spirit, and I will also sing in words I understand” (1 Corinthians 14:14-15).

WE PROPHESY because the Bible says, “But one who prophesies strengthens others, encourages them, and comforts them” (1 Corinthians 14:3).

WE PRAY TOGETHER ALOUD because the Bible says, "They lifted up their voice to God with one accord" (Acts 4:24).
